Pedro Luis Ponce Ducharne, MD (1923-2019)

Dr. Ponce Ducharne was an associate member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) since 1957 and an honorary member of the AAN since 2013. In April 1975, he attended the 27th annual meeting of the AAN in Bal Harbor, Florida, and continued to be present uninterruptedly at AAN annual meetings for 30 years until 2005, when circumstances forced him to stop attending after the 57th annual meeting in Miami Beach.Pedro Luis had a professional and amicable relationship with neurologists who today are considered classic constituents of neurology, including Derek Denny-Brown, Mac Donald Critchley, Lord Walton of Detchant, Henry Gastaut, Bruce Schoenberg, and Sigvald Refsum. Married in 1949, he spent 1 year in Havana, Cuba, training in EEG, and in 1960 traveled to Queen Square in London, where he conducted postgraduate work.
