Nodularia moravica spec. nova, a new benthic freshwater nostocalean species (Cyanophyta/Cyanobacteria/Cyanoprokaryota)

Nodularia moravica spec. nova, a new benthic freshwater nostocalean species (Cyanophyta/Cyanobacteria/Cyanoprokaryota) is described from a littoral of a gravel pit lake at Podivin, S Moravia, Czech Republic. Gross morphology and fine structure are given. N. moravica differs from other specise phenotypically and ecologically, and was isolated in monospecific culture. The new species is most similar to N. willei, but differs from it by bigger cells, ecology and distribution. Taxonomy of most known species of Nodularia is discussed.
