At the meeting, the HSE Board agreed the HSE should have the (unspecified) resources to: 1. develop its insight into, and evidence of, organisations with which the HSE does not engage but that "could be active and influential in tackling occupational disease"; 2. ensure a framework that offers a package of tools and information "that steers and directs" organisations to design and deliver their own interventions to tackle occupational disease; 3. develop a more coordinated approach to deliver the HSE's work on occupational disease, using activities from its sector strategies and inspection and enforcement programmes to underpin the HSE's role as a "catalyst for action"; 4. engage more proactively with other public bodies involved with health and wellbeing, so that there is a "clear demarcation between those factors that are clearly public health-related and those where there is an occupational element"; and 5. continue partnership working with those industries where the HSE has "most concern and... a proven working partnership".
