US: A123Systems and Hymotion win New York PHEV contract

A123SYSTEMS, a developer of next-generation nanophos-phate-based batteries, has won New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) contracts to provide three converted plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The NYSERDA PHEV programme, the company states, will assess and identify a PHEV-conversion method to modify 400 hybrid electric vehicles in the state fleet, including Toyota Prius, Honda Civic and Ford Escape hybrids.
