A company that refurbishes and sells heavy goods vehicles has been fined ￡475,000 after a self-employed scrap metal merchant died while removing the superstructure from (stripping down) a trailer at its site. The company, ATE Truck and Trailer Sales, had failed to carry out a risk assessment for the stripping task, which its own employees also on occasion performed.
