US HRC price sinks to 2-month low

Hot-rolled coil prices in the United States fell to their lowest point in two months on Tuesday June 30, which some sources said should prove temporary around the July 4 holiday while others fear this could mark a return to the swift declines that characterized the market in the early days of Covid-19. Fastmarkets’ daily steel hot-rolled coil index, fob mill US was calculated at $23.52 per hundredweight ($470.40 per short ton) on Tuesday, down by 0.8% from $23.70 per ton the previous day and off by 4.3% from $24.58 per cwt on June 23. US HRC prices are now at their lowest point since hitting a more than four-year low of $21.89 per cwt on April 30.
