We shall be responding to the TCS challenge with a campaign. The objective will be clear and simple - we shall oppose further attempts heralded by TCS to fragment and privatise the NHS in England at a cost to the service and our members.This might be viewed as a knee-jerk reaction to NHS modernisation, but the TCS agenda does not recognise what NHS staff have achieved or the future risks of having a plethora of different primary care provider organisations. These risks have been identified by the NHS Confederation's PCT Network director: 'If you fragment the care pathway into a million different providers, do you ultimately damage patient experience because of the increasing number of handovers?'1 Absolutely.
