Since the beginning of this century, in the wake of scientific progress and a remarkable increase of social productivity, men have created enormous material wealth and sped up the process of civilization. However, such global problems as excessive population growth and resource consumption, environmental pollution and ecological destruction have threatened future existence and development. Under this grim situation,countries—developed and developing—must have an eye on the future and work out development strategies.
