Theiast 12 months for the CPHVA executive

What a year to finish my term as your chair. It is, of course, the 120-year anniversary of the CPHVA but, aside from that, 2016 has seen huge changes in the political landscape. I don't think any of us could have anticipated the speed in which local authority commissioning would change the status of health visiting and school nursing services. There is no doubt that it's a challenge. Your regional chairs are keeping abreast of what is happening in all areas and responding with campaigns as appropriate. For our colleagues in the devolved countries, these issues are not so relevant, but they have their own challenges. My role as chair is to be an ambassador for CPHVA, both at home and abroad, but mainly to determine bur strategic work with the professional officers and the executive. I ensure briefings and publications go out and the day-to-day issues for practice are addressed.
