Poland's state-owned transmission system operator, PSE-Operator, and other distribution network operators have already granted connection permits for 12,300 MW of wind power, although much of that capacity may never be built, the chief executive of PSE Operator, Stefania Kasprzyk, said January 18. Investors have applied for permits to connect an additional 53,000 MW of wind power generation capacity, a combined total approaching three times more than the country's daily peak power needs of around 25,000 MW, Kasprzyk said.
