Expatriate women managers: at the crossroads of success, challenges and career goals

The current study explores the unique experiences of expatriatewomen managers, in procuring international assignments, adjusting tothe cross-cultural conditions on global tours and confronting thechallenges affecting their career goals. In-depth interviews wereconducted with 25 expatriate women managers form multinationalorganizations operating in South Africa to collect qualitative datathat was content analyzed. Results findings suggest that women arenot only successful as expatriates in foreign countries, but withadequate performance, they also achieve career growth and promotion.
