Economic cooperation of Russia with Ukraine in 2002

Russia keeps remaining the main trade partner of Ukraine despite gradual curtailment of its share in the general trade turnover of Ukraine The share of Russia in foreign trade of Ukraine constituted 27.5 percent in 2002 (comparing to 32.0 percent in 2001 and 32.7 percent in 2000). Export of Ukrainian goods herewith reached 17.8 percent while import of Russian commodities made 37.2 percent of the total foreign trade of Ukraine. The total turnover between Ukraine and Russia made up USD 9.5 bn in 2002 in terms of financial value reaching the level of 2001. Export of Ukrainian commodities constituted USD 3.2 bn over 2002 (reduction by 13.5 percent) and Russian import - USD 6.3 bn (increase by almost 9 percent).
