France can help Ukraine get the associated membership in the European Union, receive the status of the market economy state as soon as possible, and join the World Trade Organization. Bilateral relations of Ukraine and France are described with likewise positions on key international problems. Clear political relations between Kiev and Paris are enriched with wide outlooks for economic cooperation between the two countries. France is the world-scale investor, which is especially evident in the European Community. It is willing to do a lot for investment in the Ukrainian economics, but there are many things depending on Ukraine as well - this was a repeated statement from the French party. No doubt, Ukraine is interested to get French companies involved in economic cooperation. The major business lines are agriculture, agrarian machine building, and telecommunication field. The legislative base for economic collaboration of Ukraine and France in agricultural field is the Agreement of March 23, 1999 signed by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishing of France. Ukraine imports French-made machine building equipment, trucks, agricultural equipment, electric devices, perfumes, chocolate, coffee, wines, and Pharmaceuticals.
