The Ukrainian scrap market was heated up last week by a sharp rise in global prices for the material making exportersresume sales. As a result, steelmakers may have to deal with a more acute shortage. So far consumers keepusing the same tactics of providing hidden bonuses to suppliers. Actual prices for base-grade scrap (size of up to1,200?1,500х600х600 mm; railcar load min 58 t) are standing at UAH 7,100?7,200/t (excl. 20% VAT and railway tariff,$1 = UAH 27.11, incl. official extras under the supplier incentive programmes, excl. additional bonuses), market participantsreport. However, this price range can hardly be seen in the official price lists of most steel mills.
