AI and Big Data Management for Autonomous Vehicles

The development of autonomous vehicles is transforming the automotive industry and in this process, automobile companies are more and more changing into software companies. At the center of this development are vast data quantities which must be curated, managed and made available around the globe. This places enormous demands on the computational, networking and storage infrastructure requirements. The AI reference infrastructure from Nvidia and IBM fulfills these requirements: The IBM product Spectrum Scale provides scalable performance and capacity for all applications, flexible data access via standard interfaces, global access to the data across continents, integration with object storage and cloud, and integration with containerized application environments. The combination of Nvidia’s DGX-1 system and IBM Storage is a scalable and futureproof architecture for the development of autonomous vehicles and other AI applications.
