After 7 years of preparation, China fulfilled its promise and presented the world with a splendid Olympics in 2008. For the first time in history, China earned 100 medals and topped the gold medal tally with a haul of 51, which has sparked our national pride. For many years, China has put a high priority on gold and overall medal standings in the Olympic Games. However, as we have entered the post-Olympics era, the Chinese people are paying more and more attention to the sports they love and to the spirit of Olympism.
