PACE update--43 new drilling projects to increase mineral exploration by 7.5 million dollars

PACE - South Australia's Plan for Accelerating Exploration - has surpassed all expectations in its first year of operation and been credited with making a significant contribution to South Australia's economic growth, recording its highest level of mineral exploration for many years. In 12 months, exploration expenditure has increased 55.5 percent to a record high of 55.5 million dollars, with the state now having 6 percent of the national exploration expenditure, and all the signs are that the upward trend will continue. In terms of real growth in exploration activity, South Australia out performed all other states last year. The major objective of PACE is to achieve two specific goals set by the Resources Task Force: i) to increase investment in mining exploration to 100 million dollars by 2007; and ii) to boost annual mineral production to 3 billion dollars by 2020, with a further 1 billion dollar in minerals processing by that time. Significant outcomes have been achieved under all PACE themes.
