Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for extensive wounds in a Bengal kitten

A five-month-old Bengal kitten was presented for symmetric extensive wounds of unknown origin on the caudomedial thighs. The location of the wounds plus the patient's age and temperament made bandaging for open wound management challenging. Cutaneous wounds in cats have been shown to heal slower than dogs. The kitten completed 17 hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions, with full closure of wounds by day 31. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has long been used in human medicine for both acute and chronic wounds, and many publications are available on its mechanisms of action. This case emphasizes the potential benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in wound healing in cats.
