Toray Turns PPS Film Into Substrate for Flexible PCBs

Toray Industries Inc. (TYO:3402) is set to see its polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) film find use in ?exible printed circuit boards (PCBs) as soon as fiscal 2022. Having overcome issues such as heat resistance and warpage, the company has now layered its PPS film with copper foil to create ?exible copper clad laminate (FCCL), with a certain level of shipments then expected for this application over fiscal 2024–2025. The new FCCL is slated to be used in ?exible PCBs for 5G and other high-speed communications.
