Film Material Recycling - Part 2: Companies Set Sights on Recycling Multilayer Films

While much attention is going to efforts around the material recycling of single-layer film, primarily as it pertains to the beverage industry, momentum is gaining also with multilayer film. Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (TYO:4183), for one, has started to test material recycling for its multilayer film. The company has previously tested the material recycling of scrap material rolls recovered from several converter companies - and last year, it installed de-inking equipment from an overseas manufacturer, facilitating the roll-to-roll cleaning of printed scrap materials.
