Mitsui Chemicals Inc.(TYO:4183)and Hitachi Ltd.(TYO:6501)have launched demonstration testing of a materials informatics(MI)technology that promises accelerated materials development.Utilizing deep learning and other such forms of AI here for the purposes of monomer development,the two companies aim to bring this project into the commercial sphere for fiscal 2022.Use of this new technology allows for high-performance compounds of various types to be put forth without the need to conduct major trial runs beforehand.And with the AI here utilizing open data-based learning,Mitsui Chemicals and Hitachi have made it possible to propose compounds with hitherto unseen structures.
