Asahi Kasei Sets Sights on Integrated Production of Airbags With Vietnamese Fabric Production

Asahi Kasei Corp. (TYO:3407) is looking to launch Vietnamese production of automotive airbag fabric, with plans to have operations for this under way in the first half of 2024. The company already handles polyamide 66 (PA66) filaments that find use in applications including airbag yarn, and last year entered into the business of airbag fabric sewing. Now with this next move, aims are to develop technologies for an integrated production setup spanning feedstock and yarn through to fabric and sewing.
