Mitsubishi Chemical Looks to Commercialize Bioethylene, Biopropylene

Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. plans to start manufacturing and selling entirely plant-derived ethylene and propylene, as well as derivatives of these, in fiscal 2025. Bioethylene is made from bioethanol, which in turn comes from corn or sugarcane. Mitsubishi Chemical intends here to team up with Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015), which will aid with importing this raw material from the U.S. and Brazil, as well as with procurement in Japan.
