New Zealand to reassess chlorpyrifos

New Zealand’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has found that “grounds exist to reassess” the country’s approval to the insecticide, chlorpyrifos, and the related compound, chlorpyrifos-methyl. The decision to reassess chlorpyrifos was based on an EPA appointed committee’s findings of “significant new information about the effects of this substance”, says Dr Clark Ehlers, the EPA’s acting general manager of hazardous substances and new organisms.
