Australian researchers identify herbicide resistance gene in ryegrass

Australian researchers have identified an annual ryegrass gene that accounts for its resistance to seven herbicide chemistries from five modes-of-action. A scientist from the Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI) made the discovery on one of the country’s major weeds on its cropping systems with “common” resistance to herbicides. The AHRI says that the detection will assist growers and agronomists identify their most effective herbicide options.
