Brazilian GM crop area estimated at 56 m ha for 2020/21

The Brazilian area planted with genetically modified crops is estimated to have reached 56.4 million ha in 2020/21 season, the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) reports. That would reflect a 6.2% rise on the previous year. Adoption rates for the major GM crops reached 98% for soybeans, 88% for maize, and 80% for cotton. The FAS cites research from crop protection industry association Croplife Brasil.
