Pulp consumption in Europe decreasing

European paper mills cut back their pulp consumption in February. The latest Utipulp statistics reveal a reduction of 64,000 t to 917,000 t (Jan. 14:981,0001) against the previous month. Consumption had still amounted to 946,0001 in February 2013 and was thus 29,0001 higher than the figure for this year. Statistics show that converters' pulp stocks in Europe were 14,0001 lower than a month earlier at 638,000 t (652,000 t). In the same month of last year, paper mills had still had stocks of 663,000 t of pulp and thus 25,000 t more than this year.
