Certis Europe gets UK approval for InSyst in sugar beet

Certis Europe’s insecticide, InSyst (acetamiprid), has received UK approval for application on sugar beet to curb peach-potato aphids (Myzus persicae). The aphids transmit beet yellow viruses that cause yellowing in sugar beet. Certis notes that the approval comes at a time when only one authorised foliar product, Tepekki (flonicamid), with just one application per crop is available to growers after Biscaya (thiacloprid) was phased out in Europe in 2020. Certis product manager, Henry Welham, says that this would not have been suicient to keep viruses at bay in a “high-risk year”.
