Syngenta/PepsiCo issue sustainability in potato growing study in Colombia

Syngenta’s Colombian business, and soft drinks manufacturer PepsiCo, have issued results on a collaboration showing improved sustainability in potato planting through increased biodiversity. The companies worked with the Colombian University of del Bosque and finca La Fortuna’s (Subachoque) environment faculty in 2021 on a research programme in which they established multifunctional borders with ornamental plants at the edges of a potato plantation. The goal was to provide habitats for an increase in biodiversity, reduce soil loss from erosion and cut the amount of water use.
