Ginkgo Bioworks to acquire Zymergen in $300 m deal

US synthetic biology company Ginkgo Bioworks (Boston, Massachusetts) has agreed to acquire Emeryville, California-based peer business Zymergen in an all-stock deal worth $300 million. Ginkgo anticipates the acquisition “significantly” enhancing its cell programming platform, Foundry, through the integration of the latter’s automation and software capabilities.
