The role of optical ICP spectrometers in environmental analyses

Increasingly stringent legislation means that the sensitivities of methods used for environmental analysis must be very high.Modern design methods and the incorporation of technological innovations such as CID detectors mean that modern ICP OES spectrometers can now easily meet the current and proposed performance requirements of environmental legislation throughout the world.This article describes studies carried out to assess the ability of a top-of-the-line ICP spectrometer to perform typical analyses of environmental samples and evaluates the data in the context of the new legislation.
