China has issued about 4 million mt worth of new export licences for coke amid a recent dip in prices, a coke trader told Platts. The authorities issued licences for "just over" 4 million mt, compared to 5 million mt in January. The source said Chinese coke exports had actually exceeded that and hit 5.9 million mt in the first five months of the year, because they included tonnage from last year carried forward into the new year until the end of February. Recently, Chinese FOB price for coke with an ash content of 12 percent eased to the low 130 dollars/mt FOB, a drop of between 5 dollars to 10 dollars/mt over the past few weeks, the trader said.
