Oenophile, neophyte or non-consuming party guest, most people examine the label before buying—searching for that favorite winery, appellation or variety. Perhaps no other retail product is more label-dependent than wine. So, it's no surprise that the wine industry has driven many labeling innovations over the years. Yet, one label innovation that the wine industry has been slow to adopt is digital printing. Almost all wine labels run on traditional printing presses where plates and inks are loaded before any labels are printed, a time-consuming and rigid process that produces roll after roll of identical labels. With digital label printing, there are no plates to load and every label potentially can be different.
