EU to investigate citrus imports from South Africa

The European Commission will investigate whether citrus imports from South Africa respect the EU’s phytosanitary rules over fears that it could spread a dangerous pest. On 18 October, the Spanish farming association La Unio de Llauradors said the Commission will examine the safety of South Africa’s citrus exports to the EU at the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food, and Feed for Plant Health on 21 and 22 October.
