Russian coal prices fall in Europe

Russian high-grade coal prices declined on the week in Eu- rope because of ample supply and weak demand. Prices decreased by 60￠/t to $52.40/t fob Baltic ports. No assessment-relevant trades were reported. European spot demand remained weak amid firm solar and wind generation and highly competitive gas prices. Utilities on the continent are now focused on long-term con- tracts, while Mediterranean buyers are taking advantage of low spot prices and attracting cargoes to the region.
