Outcome of Holmsley bridge replacement still pending

Dyer & Butler, Knights Brown and Mildren are waiting on a decision over a contract to replace a vital bridge, which transports traffic on a key route through the heart of the New Forest National Park. The ￡5.5m scheme for Hampshire County Council will replace the 113-year-old Holmsley bridge, which carries the A35 over the C10 road between Burley and Brockenhurst. To keep traffic flowing, a new bridge will be built alongside the existing bridge and the old deteriorating steel bridge will be removed. The successful contractor, which should be named in March, will also re-align a 380-metre stretch of the A35 as part of the project. Work is expected to start later this summer and should be completed by June 2022.
