New way to lay

The project was awarded to Highway Management (Scotland) Ltd - a consortium lead by Bilfinger Berger UK Ltd, John Graham (Dromore) Ltd and Northstone - as a Design, Build, Finance and Operate (DBFO) project thus allowing an innovative and contemporary approach to pavement design based on the principles of performance testing. Bardon Composite Pavements (BCP) were employed to supply, mix and pave 45,000m~3 Cement Bound Granular Material (CBGM) sub base on the (off line) mainline carriageways. BCP were also awarded the contract to paver lay 38,000m~3 Type 1 sub base on side and slip roads.
