CGG wins vibroseis survey in Egypt

CGG's High-Productivity Vibroseis Acquisition (HPVA) technique has been selected by the Chilean company, SIPETROL, to conduct a full 3D land seismic survey in Egypt. Operations started in early June and should continue through late September. This is the first full 3D survey to be performed with CGG's HPVA technique after a successful testing period. By favoring this technique over conventional 3D flip-flop acquisition, the client will be able to acquire for the same budget 50% more data than originally planned. CGG also redesigned the acquisition spread to achieve wide-azimuth acquisition, long offsets and higher productivity in addition to meeting the client's geophysical requirements. The survey will cover 1460 square km of desert, flat gravel terrain with small sand dunes in the East Ras Qattara concession, 200 km west of Cairo. The crew will operate with three inde- pendent fleets of three vibrators and move 1200 traces every day to achieve a minimum production level of 2000 VPs/day.
