The annual ITS UK Excellence Awards Dinner is always an entertaining way to spend an evening. A family of mice interrupted the 2012 event in London, while this year's, held in the horticulturally fascinating surroundings of Birmingham's Botanical Gardens, saw a cat make an unscheduled appearance during ITS UK President Steve Noras' speech. Wildlife apart, the Awards not only serve as a perfect way to catch up with UK-based friends and colleagues, but they also provide us with an insight into some of the incredible work going on "behind the scenes."
