Dart Charge to go live in November

The introduction of new freeflow charging technology at the Dartford Crossing has been delayed until November. The Dart Charge technology, which was originally due to go live in October, will allow motorists to use the Dartford Crossing without having to stop at barriers to hand over payment. Road users will be able to pay through a variety of methods including telephone, text message, online, and at retail outlets - giving motorists greater flexibility in how and when they pay the charge. According to the Highways Agency, the full benefits of the scheme will be delivered by the end of April 2015, when all changes to the road layout will be completed.
