What is the background to your company? It was first called R & C Williams in 1957. It was set up originally by two brothers, Ronnie and Charlie Williams, who mainly carried out drainage work and drainage brick work for the city of Birmingham and its old public works department. Their father before them was affectionately known as 'Flash Williams' and had a reputation of laying 3,000 bricks a day after all the bomb damage in the city centre from the war. So you could argue the company dates back to 1945. Ronnie and Charlie formed this partnership as a continuation of their father's business. It became official in 1957 and the company started growing through the 1950s, 60s and 70s and was asked to get involved with bigger and more challenging projects.
