Russian Guided Bombs

This report covers those guided (laser and electro-optic) bombs that manufactured in Russia that are offered for export. Russia is currently producing a range of laser-guided, designated KAB, which are suitable for use from a broad range of strike aircraft. Russia also produces at least one type of electro-optically guided bomb, the KAB-500Kr which is roughly comparable to the US GBU-15. A new submunitions dispenser, the RBK-500, has been promoted, and it is capable of dispersing the new Motiv (a.k.a. SPBE-D) sensor fuzed weapon, somewhat similar in approach to the US Air Force's SFW program. Russian firms advertised GPS guided bombs for the first time a decade ago in 2003.
