UK grid leases CO2 storage

The UK’s National Grid has signed a lease agreement for a potential offshore CO2 storage site for the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS). Drilling on what will be the first offshore test of CO2 storage potential in the UK could start in May. The saline aquifer site in the southern North Sea, 70km offshore Flamborough Head in Yorkshire, is large enough to store CO2 from the Don Valley and White Rose power projects.
