Immediate global action necessary to meet 2°C target - Report

Governments must take immedi- ate decisive action to curb the rise of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emis- sions, according to the Probabilistic Cost Estimates for Climate Change Mitigation report, authored by a group of academic institutions, and published on 3 January in the scientific journal Nature. "Immediate and globally co-ordi- nated mitigation action is necessary" for the world to have a "likely" chance - representing a probability of 66pc - of keeping the global long-term tempera- ture increases to 2°C, the report says.
