In a previous issue of the Cooling Journal, we referenced a number of websites with articles and documents that contained exceptionally good information for new heat exchanger technicians regarding Aluminum Cleaning and Brazing. Our hope is that you've downloaded those references and placed them in a notebook or binder to serve as a ready reference for your new technicians. For this issue, we've reviewed several articles and documents that explain how an automotive cooling system works. This is basic information within the industry and there is sometimes a temptation to assume that even a relatively inexperienced technician should understand the basics of engine cooling and thermal management. However, unless the technician is a graduate of an accredited automotive technician program, it's quite likely they don't really understand how all the engine cooling components work together as a system.
