ARCELORMITTAL TO TAKE PART IN PROJECT FOR CARBON EMISSIONS CAPTURE

ArcelorMittal has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an international energy firm Equinor to develop value chains in carbon capture and storage, according to the steelmaker’s press release. Equinor is one of the partners of Northern Lights project for transportation, reception and permanent storage of CO2 in a reservoir in the northern part of the North Sea. Within the programme by late 2019, it is planned to drill a wildcat well for CO2 in North Sea to study the reservoir’s suitability and capacity for CO2 storage.
