Pre-registration mental health nursing students' perceptions of eating disorders

There has been a significant increase in the number of people experiencing eating disorders, leading to a greater demand in healthcare. This highlights the need for nurses to be sufficiently educated on the aetiology, symptoms and treatment of the disorder to ensure they are willing and equipped to work adequately with service users so care is effective, actively promoted and easily accessible. It is important to understand student nurses' views of eating disorders in order to ensure pre-registration nurses are prepared to provide the highest standard of care to this client group.
