Tales from the 'front line'

The already creaking NHS system of care for those suffering from a mental illness would be non-existent without the thousands of mental health nurses who work tirelessly, day in, day out. You provide care for arguably the most vulnerable people in society. So, I would like to thank each one of you for the selfless work that you do.I am writing this article, hopefully the first of several to follow, not as a professional in the field, but someone from a family that has very nearly been torn apart by the mental ill health of two close relatives. In helping them through extremely fluid times of crisis, from the outside looking in, the family have had to pull together to try to manage the care available for them. So where does the front line begin and end in the battle for mental well-being?
