Working in older adult care

Eighteen months ago I left my Associate Nurse Director post after 32 years in NHS Scotland and took up my current post as Director of Care at Erskine, a charity that primarily operates and runs four care homes for veterans and their spouses in Scotland.Since going there, I have spent time promoting working in the care sector as a positive and rewarding career choice for both adult, and importantly, mental health nurses. It was therefore encouraging when we recruited nine newly qualified nurses in the last cohort of nurses who qualified from both the adult and mental health fields in September.
