High-carbon ferro-chrome prices fell in the latest week as weak demand outpaced supply concerns. Prices for 65pc grade alloys with high carbon content dropped to 89-92￠/lb from 89-98￠/lb on 28 May. Weak domestic demand outweighed logistical concerns in South Africa. Additionally, stronger demand in China diverted volumes otherwise bound for Europe and the US, but reduced steel mill operating rates countered that trend's impact on prices. Consumers purchased truckload-sized lots at 89-92￠/ lb on an ex-works basis at the beginning of the week.
